One of my favorite interior architectural design elements in a home is a window seat.  Yes, my two pure bred cats would concur with this, watching the birds fly.   Although my younger cat Luciano, appears more partial to the chipmunk, which has made its interior residence in my built-in outdoor planters.  The two of them seem to have a “cat and chipmunk” game going on where they both watch each other run back and forth along my French doors.

I digress on the cat and chipmunk game.  Moving on I have to say it is ohhh sooo sad these wonderful cozy built-in seats are passé’ in interiors today.  They can provide all of us with the sheltered warmth of a faraway relaxing place, right in your own home.  I find they automatically envelop you, serving as an instant stress reliever, and a special semi-enclosed hide away.

For 2016, my new design campaign is to bring this stress relieving architectural gem back in vogue.  If any of you are contemplating a new build, or are planning a remodel, you should really consider adding such a design element.  You will never regret it, and I highly recommend grabbing a cup of mint hot chocolate, (my favorite is Land O’ Lakes mint hot cocoa, you will NOT be disappointed) or a cup of coffee, a book, surf the internet, grab a blanket and curl up and let all stress will melt away.
